The Veterans Grappling Foundation (VGF) is a registered Australian charity dedicated to improving the physical and mental wellbeing of military veterans and first responders through the structured practice of judo.
Founded by Australian Army veteran and lifelong judo practitioner Scott Steer, VGF was established in response to the real and ongoing challenges faced by many service members transitioning to civilian life. Our programs are grounded in the principles of judo—discipline, respect, resilience, and controlled physical engagement—providing participants with a safe and supportive pathway to rebuild confidence, establish routine, and reconnect with community.
VGF delivers scholarship programs, judo and wellness camps, and community-based training opportunities in partnership with accredited judo clubs and experienced professionals across Australia. Our approach is evidence-informed and supported by a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring all programs are inclusive, well-governed, and focused on long-term wellbeing.
As a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR)–endorsed charity, we are committed to strong governance, transparency, and delivering programs that create genuine and lasting impact. At our core, the Veterans Grappling Foundation exists to ensure that those who have served are not left to navigate life after service alone.
Together, we roll forward.
